How this discipleship platform is designed

Disciples Now and Always comes in three parts, starting broadly and steadily deepening, each one is intended to be a trusted tool in our apprenticeship to Jesus.

It begins as a small group study. That’s because learning about life as a disciple happens best in the same way living life as a disciple does: in supportive, accountable community.

Every lesson (ten in all, plus an introduction and a conclusion) includes discussion questions to promote thoughtful reflection and honest sharing. The more deeply these questions are considered, the more the group, and each person in it, will grow.

The thirty-two embedded videos are not optional extras, but integral to the group study. Though each is only a few minutes long, they explore more fully a concept not as easily covered in a brief paragraph or two.

There's a lot packed into Volume One: The Group Study.

The introduction, ten lessons, and conclusion of the group study each spawn two conversations, for a total of twenty-four in Volume Two: The Conversations. These are arranged to facilitate dialogue in a smaller cohort of three to five people.

This resource is built around learning from Jesus together and supporting one another as we live according to what we’re learning. That’s what these conversations are intended to foster. This is where discipleship thrives.

Each unit provides a guide for your conversation time, including prayer, scripture memorization, and two potent exercises called HEAR and OBEY. These are opportunities to dig deeply into passages of Scripture, letting them speak to us, and examining how we can live them out. All this is inspired by Jesus’ words, “How happy are those who hear the word of God and obey it!” (Luke 11:28 GNT)

Additionally, each conversation includes a concise audio reflection, expounding on an aspect of the subject at hand.

Volume Three: The Practice is currently under construction. It will be designed for individual appreciation and application of fifty-two specific directives of Jesus, focusing on what they mean and how we can obey them in our everyday lives. Think of this as a field guide for faithful discipleship.

Ten lessons with thirty-two videos studying what it means to follow Jesus, twenty-four conversations (and just as many audio messages) to help deepen your discipleship, and eventually fifty-two opportunities to put the teaching of Jesus into practice—these are the three foundational resources of the Disciples Now and Always platform.
